The Praxair Helistar A1025 blend is widely used for its optimized short-circuiting transfer in stainless steel welding. Its high helium content provides increased puddle fluidity for good bead shape and faster travel speeds.

The Praxair Helistar CS gas blend is specially formulated for the high deposition welding of carbon steel. It can be used to join all thicknesses of carbon or low alloy steel in any welding position. The increased heat input associated with its helium component provides higher travel speeds and greater tolerance for baseplate contamination.

The Praxair Helistar SS shielding gas blend is used to join stainless steel with all forms of metal transfer. It provides higher welding speeds, reduced distortion, and excellent bead contour with good color match particularly with pulsed metal transfer. Optimum performance is obtained with high silicon wires.

Principal Applications
Praxair Helistar SS and A1025 are used for fabrication of stainless steel tanks and components for the chemicals and food services industries. The Helistar CS is used for heavy single pass fillets in structural components as well as longitudinal seam welds in tanks. It is also used in fabrication of transformer cases and other applications where light oil contamination can adversely affect weld quality.

HeliStar CS Gas Blend

This blend has been developed for spray and pulsed spray arc welding of both carbon and low-alloy steels. It can be used on all thicknesses in any position. This high-speed blend will produce higher quality welds over rust, oil, and mill scale than conventional two-part mixtures. It produces good mechanical properties and weld puddle control.

HeliStar SS Gas Blend

This blend is used for short arc, spray, and pulsed spray arc welding of stainless steel. It provides a higher welding speed, a broad weld with a flat crown and good color match, reduced porosity, and excellent alloy retention with good corrosion resistance.

HeliStar A-1025 Gas Blend

This blend is widely used for short-circuiting transfer welding of stainless steel in all welding positions. The carbon dioxide content is kept low to minimize carbon absorption and assure good corrosion resistance, especially in multipass welds. The argon and carbon dioxide additions provide good arc stability and depth of fusion. The high helium content provides significant heat input to overcome the sluggish nature of the stainless steel weld pool.
